Crick 2018 seems a long way off, but in boat building terms it is fast approaching and we have begun work on a new narrowboat that we will be showcasing this year in addition to the Kingsley wide beam boat that we also have in build This new narrowboat is based on our popular luxury Westminster SE but is being built to the customers bespoke requirements and will incorporate a selection of new and innovative design ideas.
With the bespoke design now signed off with our customers, we have begun work on the steelwork and the shell is almost complete. We build all our own shells in house and use a level engineered bed to lay down the base plate ensuring that all the boats we build are straight and true, providing excellent handling. This also means that we have complete control of the design and build process from start to finish.
This new Westminster SE is a 65ft long narrowboat with a semi-trad stern and will have a two bedroom layout that will provide the new owners with space for up to six berths including an L-shaped dinette and be a true family friendly narrowboat.
She will be powered by a Canaline 42hp engine coupled to a PRM150 hydraulic gearbox, providing plenty of motive power, and also have a Vetus electric bow thruster for increased manoeuvrability.
We will be releasing more information about this bespoke new boat over the next few weeks, as the build process progresses in the build up to Crick 2018. Watch this space for more details and photographs.
