Elton Moss Boatbuilders is part of Carefree Cruising Limited.

Carefree Cruising sells shared ownership narrowboats (which are built by Elton Moss Boatbuilders).

These boats are amungst the hardest worked boats on the cut, as they are consistently used in excess of 40 weeks of the year. To withstand this level of use, our boats have to be built to a very high standard - and because we meet our boat owners week-in, week-out as the co-owners change over, there is no hiding place! The boats have to be right!

We apply the same rigourous quality standards to our "private builds", as we want you to be our "Floating Ambassadors", spreading the word about how good our boats are.

We are members of the British Marine Federation (BMF) and adhere to the BMF standards in all our dealings with our customers.

We are also members of the Association of Pleasure Craft Operators and the Inland Waterways Association.

When you book your build slot, we ask for a build slot deposit of £1,000.

We will then ask you for stage payments as the build of your boat progresses.

We will agree with you in advance the exact specification and price of your boat, along with what each stage payment will be and when it will fall due.

These are all set out in a British Marine Federation standard boatbuilding contract, which both you and we will sign. This contract protects you in the unlikely event that we cease trading before the building of your boat is completed.
